Wyatt Davis (Dub) Leeper, Jr., age 89, of Groveton, Texas, formerly of Kingsland and Houston, Texas completed his earthly journey and went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 26, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and funeral services will begin at 11:00AM both, on Thursday, January 30, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas. He will be escorted to his final resting place by his pallbearers, Ryan Leeper, Dusty Pyle, Neil White, Kevin Trlica, Malry Pyle, Dwight Pyle and Felix Beasley. Honorary Pallbearer, David Pyle. The family would like to request that memorials be made to Cherokee Homes for Children, 13355 State Highway 16, Cherokee, Texas 76832.
Dub was born on August 10, 1924 to his parents, Wyatt Davis Leeper, Sr. and Birdie Henley Leeper in Dickens County, Texas. He was a devout Christian and was Church of Christ by faith. He served as a Veteran of WWII with the United States Army. Wyatt later worked as a Truck Driver for Missouri Pacific Truck Lines until retirement. He was very much a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Leeper; his parents; two sisters, Zelma Largent and Monita McCoy and brother-in-law, Jack Fuller. Wyatt leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Dean Leeper and Tina Leeper, of Spicewood, Texas; grandson, Ryan Leeper, of Dallas, Texas; sister, Jean Fuller, of Mt. Belvieu, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Trudy Pyle and D L Pyle, of Groveton, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive.
