Obituary

W.L. "Bo" Freeman, Jr., of the Trevat & Pennington Communities of Groveton, Texas was called home by God on December 29, 2019, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 17 days. He was born on November 12, 1948 in Friday, Texas to Weaver Leon Freeman and Lillie (Butler) Freeman and was the fourth of five children.

Bo attended Groveton High School and graduated in 1967. He served in the United States Army for two years. He advanced to the rank of sergeant and was stationed in Korea for one year. After being discharged he worked as a machinist in Houston. March 1973, he started his career as a cable repair technician with Southwestern Bell. He remained employed with Southwestern Bell/AT&T until March of 2003. He then was able to retire and become a full-time rancher. Taking care of his cattle, driving his tractor and gardening was something he did until his health stopped him. He enjoyed volunteering with the Trinity County Youth Fair Association as a helper, cooking for all the gracious supporters, as long his health allowed.

Bo attended the Pennington Baptist Church in Pennington, Texas. He was extremely active with the church and served on numerous committees. He loved spending time with his family and doing errands for his loving wife of 21 years. He also found great pride in driving the "Pappee Bus".

He is preceded in death by his parents, Weaver and Lillie Freeman, and his father-in-law, Lloyd Stubblefield.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Freeman of Groveton, TX; daughter, Rebekah Ray and husband, Brian, of College Station, TX and step-son, Matthew James and wife, Kristin, grandsons, Jesse, Frank and Hank James of Groveton, TX; Siblings: sister, Laura Morgan and husband, L.D., of Sherman, TX; sister, Fran Whittenton of Longview, TX; brother, John E. Freeman of Longview, TX; brother, Willie H. Freeman and wife, Donna of Longview, TX; Mother-in-law Margaret Stubblefield-Vanecek, brother-in-law Harold Stubblefield and wife Marlena.
A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends, also survive.

Visitation will be held at Groveton Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2020 beginning at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Pennington Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Bud Magee officiating and Bro. Drew Scott assisting. Mr. Freeman will be escorted to his final resting place in Pennington Cemetery in Pennington, TX by his pallbearers: Mike Freeman, Neil White, Justin Stubblefield, Steven Stubblefield, Jonathan Brown, Kevin Bounds, Jason Nelms, Jason Avery and Cody Crews. Honorary pallbearers: Brian Ray, Matthew James, Jesse James, Frank James and Hank James.
