Buell Anderson of Grapeland, Texas went to be with the lord on September 14, 2024, after an automobile accident, two months before his 80th birthday.
Winfred Buell Anderson was born in Groveton, Texas to Clyde Lyndon Anderson and Wilma Jewel Nichols Anderson November 17, 1944. He spent much of his childhood working alongside his siblings and dad but by age 4, he taught himself to play guitar which quickly became his passion. He was a member of the Hangtree band in Houston, playing gigs every weekend until he developed carpel tunnel syndrome in his 60's and could no longer play his beloved guitar or fiddle. His days of singing Merle Haggard and playing Devil went down to Georgia were the hardest to give up but he passed down his love of the guitar to his grandson, Wesley, and youngest granddaughter, Taylor, which brought him great joy and his love of singing to his youngest son, David and his youngest daughter, Amy. He truly adored his kids and grandbabies! So much so that his daughters called him the Ice Cream supplier because he introduced his granddaughters, Tiffany and Allyson to it at a very early age and it's still their favorite dessert today.
While music was the biggest part of his life, he worked at Daniel Industries in Houston for several years and ultimately ended up working as a mechanic for Nips Freight. He was a man who never rested. Whether it was working around the house or working on cars/trucks, he never stopped. His middle daughter, Teresa was his side kick, he taught her his many tricks of the trade. She often calls him MacGyver because of his creative ways of fixing things. He passed on his mechanical skills to his oldest son, Lynn. When the two of them worked together, there was no doubt they would fix whatever vehicle they were working on.
Buell's sense of humor and natural talent for being a great prankster is what most will remember about him. He loved playing tricks on his siblings and was always telling jokes and making people laugh. His late daughter, Gina, the apple of his eye, inherited his great sense of humor.
Buell Anderson leaves behind his daughter and her husband, Teresa "Teri" and Todd Gay of Sealy, Texas, son, David Anderson of Houston, Texas and daughter, Amy Flanagan-Parker of Katy, Texas. He had 4 grandchildren: Wesley Gay (Hailey), Tiffany and Allyson "Ally" Flanagan and Taylor Parker. He had 1 great-grandson: Finley Gay.  He also leaves behind sisters, Sylvia Tutor and June and brothers, Benny Anderson (Judi) and Glenn Anderson (Sylverene) and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Anderson, his son, Lyndon "Lynn" Anderson, his daughter, Gina Anderson, his dad, Clyde Anderson, his mother, Wilma Anderson, his brothers: Boyce, Berl, Lynn and sister, Oleta Railsback.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, with visitation at 11am and funeral at 12pm at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.
