Funeral Services for Willie Mae Thompson, 85 of Groveton, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 14, 2011 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of the Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas with Pastor Lewis Jones to officiate. Interment will follow in the Ellis Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers are Martin Dunaway, Bart Dunaway, George Ellis, David Wayne Norsworthy and Archie Reeves.
Willie Mae was born February 9, 1925 to James A. Coleman and Viola Clara Myrtie Coleman and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. She will be forever cherished and remembered for her selfless service to others and dedication to her family. She was a member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Willie Mae is preceded in death by her husband Martin Wilford Thompson; parents James A. Coleman and Clara Myrtie Coleman; son-in-law Robert Stubblefield; brothers Ernest Coleman and James A. Coleman, Jr.; sisters Doris Louise Coleman, Artha Bell Reeves, Bernice Andress, Linnie Myrtie Ellis and Alice Faye Gates.
Survivors include her daughters Clara M. Marino and husband Jasper of Possumwalk, Meredith Dunaway of Conroe and Mary Alice Stubblefield of Trinity; four grandchildren Terri Marino and Scott Mills of The Woodlands and Mary Katherine Kowis and husband Kelly of Houston, Martin Dunaway and wife Sherri of Conroe, Bart Dunaway and wife Regan of Magnolia; eight great grandchildren; sister Mary Lou Evans and husband Bob of Nogalus Prairie; brother William Ray Coleman and wife Diane of Pasadena; sister-in-laws Lillie May Dunlap of Trinity, Darlene Pyle of Groveton, Sally Evans and husband Clifton of Holly; brother-in-law Tom Thompson and wife Polly of Friday; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Ellis Prairie Cemetery or your favorite charity.
