William Dale Howard, III of Groveton, Texas, passed away August 18, 2022, at the age of seventy-four. William was born on October 28, 1947, in Crockett, Texas to father, William Dale Howard, Jr. and mother, Ruby (Cude) Howard.
Billy graduated from Groveton ISD in 1966 and attended Sam Houston State University afterwards. He soon enlisted in the US Marines Reserve. He served from 1970 until 1976. Billy later, moved to Houston and worked for many years as a pipe fitter. Later, he retired and returned to Groveton to live in his long-time family home. Due to health concerns Billy entered the Groveton Nursing Home and resided there for ten years. He was a huge sports fanatic and was a long-time season ticket holder to the Houston Oilers games. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He loved going to the coast in Trinity Bay to stay in their camp house and he especially enjoyed salt-water fishing.
Mr. Howard leaves behind to cherish his memories, his two daughters, Cindy Barnette and husband, Doug and Tracie Howard; son, Will Howard and wife, Fran; grandchildren: William, Brady, and Layla Howard, Aspen and Eli Glover, Elizabeth Melkovitz, and Madison Barnette; great grandchild, Brenley Melkovitz; special friend and guardian, Dena Debreaux; special friend, Joe Ned Dean and a host of other loving relatives, and many friends also survive.

Mr. Howard is preceded in death by his loving parents.

Graveside services for William Dale Howard, III will be held Monday, August 22, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating.
