A Celebration of Life Service for William "Bill" Byron Mixon, 80 of Groveton, formerly of Houston will be held at 2:00 pm., Sunday, January 24 at First United Methodist Church in Groveton, Texas. Brother Jack McMahon will be officiating the service.
Bill was born on July 17th, 1935 in Cushing, Texas to James and Blanche Mixon. He served our country in the Navy as soon as he was old enough. God called Bill home surrounded by friends and family on January 20, 2016.
For 30 years he worked for the Metro Transit System in Houston. Bill was also an avid motorcyclist and member of the North West San Jacinto High Rollers and served as Treasurer for many years.
Bill enjoyed life to the fullest while pursuing hobbies of hunting, fishing, motorcycling and even just mowing yards-his or any others. He designed, created and maintained an incredible Koi Pond and gardens for many years. After retirement he pursued the endeavors of being a professional piddler. He loved his new life in Groveton where he was known as the greatest hugger ever! He was a facebook celebrity known as "Honey".
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Blanche Mixon and an infant stillborn sibling.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sandy Meyer Mixon of Groveton. Sons Rusty Mixon of Cypress, Wayne Mixon and wife Cheri of Katy, Blake Mixon and wife Angel of Waller and Kenny Woychesin and wife Jen of Groveton.
Grandchildren Remy Mixon of Cypress, Blake Mixon of Waller, Kenny Woychesin III and Tish of Groveton, Johnathan Woychesin of Groveton and Booger (Aaron) Woychesin of Groveton. Great grandchildren Bradyn and Kenzie Woychesin of Groveton.
A special sister in law who adored him- Debbie, and husband Mike Stellas.
Brothers David and wife Agnes of Splendora and Phillip and wife Joann of Kingwood. There are many nephews, nieces and friends.
Fur babies include Joey, his beloved dog-they are now reunited. Baxter, Bentley, Pistol, the cat he didn't want- yet loved, and even allowed to sleep at his feet.
