Wanda Edwina Sandlin died and went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, on January 17, 2021 in Houston, Texas at the age of 83 years. She was born in Baytown, Texas on July 9, 1937 to Archie McClain and Lena Polk McClain.
Wanda was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved crafts. She loved making needle point bedspreads. She truly enjoyed singing gospel music. Wanda also was known for her down-home country cooking. Wanda graduated from Robert E. Lee college in Baytown, TX. She worked as a legal secretary, and as a teacher's aide in the Houston area.
Wanda is preceded in death by her father, Archie McClain; her mother, Lena Polk McClain; husband, Gary Sandlin. Her survivors include her loving children: daughters, Laura Harsey, Penny McClain, Candy Rogers; son, Archie Speer; grandson, Clayton Rogers, Darryl Singley; granddaughter, Kristina Sedberry, Taylor Speer, Macey Meek; great-grandchildren; Devin Singley, Dylan Singley, Kara Singley, Preston Elder, Jenna Strong, Nichole Singley; cousin Lois McClain Brorsen; niece Joni Carney, Cari Banner;and twin sister; Olga Lankford a host of other relatives and friends also, survive.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 22, 2021 in the Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, TX.
