Walter Paul Bane, age 69, of Groveton, Texas was born in Groveton and passed away on February 24, 2019 in Pennington, Texas after his courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas with Bro. Neil Kemper officiating and Bro. Rodney Langley assisting. Mr. Bane will be escorted to his final resting place by pallbearers: Lonnie Best, Mikel Fry, Keith Robert, Bobby Nicholson, Nathan Robert, Matt Schultz. Honorary pallbearers: Thomas Kesinger and Keith Kesinger.
Mr. Bane loved spending time with his family. He also loved those "Friday night lights" and rooting on the Groveton Indian football team. He was a hardworking man and worked for over 21 years with Lufkin Industries. He was also a man who had a huge heart and was always willing to help people. Walter enjoyed playing 42, watching westerns and playing a good game of solitaire in his free time.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Sofie Kerling Bane and a sister, Erica Matthews. He is survived by his sister, Anita Kauffman of Willis, TX; sister, Linda Thompson of Cleveland, TX; nephew, Mikel Fry of Houston, TX; nephew, Lonnie Best of Humble, TX; niece, Greta Floyd of Conroe, TX; nephew, Eric Matthews of Conroe, TX; nephew, Jason Matthews of Conroe, TX and a host of other beloved relatives and friends also, survive.
