Viola (Ollie) Siegmund Hanke passed away on November 3, 2019 at the age of 98.

Viola was born on October 27, 1921 in Lincoln, Texas to Richard and Meta Siegmund and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.  The family moved to Giddings, Texas were she attended Giddings High School graduating in the Class of 1939.

After a short courtship Viola married Henry (Sonny) Hanke on July 15, 1945 and they resided in Elgin, Texas.  They were blessed with three children, Cynthia, Michael and Ginger.  They later moved to Bishop, Texas and resided there for 17 years and in 1974 moved back to Elgin, Texas.

Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny of 52 years in 1997; her parents; her brother, Monroe; 3 sisters: Winnie, May and Mary Lee and her son, Michael.

Viola is survived by her daughters:  Cynthia Dunbar (Larry) of Round Rock and Ginger Jacobs (Rick) of Lufkin; brother, James Ray Siegmund (Reba); six grandchildren:  Kristy Lamm (Mark), Brian Dunbar (Priscilla), Shawn Hanke (Veronica), Nicole Hanke, Lauren Trotter (Ben) and Matt Jacobs (Macy); 11 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Graveside services for Mrs. Hanke will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Elgin City Cemetery in Elgin, Texas.
