Vernon Wayne Hughes was born on March 3, 1943 in Camden, TX, the son of William Floyd Hughes and Lois Irene West and passed away peacefully on July 9, 2018 in Latexo, TX.

Mr. Hughes was an extremely hard worker. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved cleaning and mowing the lawn. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Carmona Cemetery in Carmona, TX with Pastor Rocky Hoch officiating.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Floyd Hughes; mother, Lois Irene West; step mother, Dezy Hughes; 5 brothers, Donald Ray Hughes, Gerald Hughes, Jackie Hughes, Harold Hughes, Ed Hughes; sister, Audrey Laborde; step sister, Lois Goosby; son-in-law, Lewis Brown; grandson, Jose Suarez; sons, Bobby Wayne Hughes, Timothy Wayne Hughes. His survivors include his children:  daughter, Connie Driskell and husband David of Crockett, TX; daughter, Tammy Mettlen of Latexo TX; daughter, Elizabeth Blaylock and husband Paul of Latexo, TX; daughter, Thresa Sowell and husband Chris of Latexo TX; daughter-in-law, Lorrie Hughes of Lufkin TX; grandchildren:   Pamela Klock and fiancé Steven Stubblefield, Jeremiah and Megan Mettlen, Angela Mettlen, Tara Klock, Robin Suarez, Eddie and Teresa Harris, Amanda Lenox, Dustin Klock, TJ Hughes and Liz Compain, Brandon Hughes and Victoria Simms, Bobby and Matraca Driskell, Joseph and Courtney Harris, Harold Driskell, Mathew Sowell; 28 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also, survive.
