Verlon Guinn Andrews, Sr. was born January 23, 1936, in Brazoria, Texas to parents, Theo Andrews and Erma (Hartnett) Andrews. He peacefully returned to his heavenly home Monday, March 20, 2023, at the age of eighty-seven years.
Mr. Andrews loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to be outdoors where he could work on his tractors and watch his cattle. He also enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends.
Mr. Andrews was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Lenore Andrews; parents, Theo and Erma Andrews; brothers, Ray W. Andrews, Curtis Andrews, and James Elton Andrews; nephew, Michael Stubbs.
Mr. Andrews is survived by his loving wife: Ima Jean Andrews; children: daughter, Sandra Andrews and Dawn Lindner of Montgomery, TX; son, Verlon Guinn Andrews, Jr. and Christine Slaughter of Crosby, TX; step-son, Clinton Marburger and wife, Tamry of Grapeland, TX; step-son, Russell Marburger and wife, Aenea of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Jason Andrews and John Williams, Elizabeth Andrews and Mikeal Phillips, Savannah Andrews, Axel Andrews and Sam deCaro; step-grandchildren: Hunter Slaughter, Myra and Kase Roznovsky, Jenna Marburger, KD Sandifer and husband, Shane, Sarah Rodriguez, Shelby Sylvester, Adam Driskell and wife, Megan, and Marshal Marburger; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters: Susie Stubbs and husband, Lyle, Nancy Bates and husband, Robert; special family, David Magness and wife, Kim and family, Melvin Gorney and wife, Julie, DC Musgrove, and KD Dunlap, and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Visitation for Verlon Andrews will begin Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home with Pastors H.J. Billingsley and Meyers officiating. Interment will follow in Clapp Cemetery in Trinity, TX.
