Steven Ray Gayle, age 53, tragically passed away following an ATV accident on October 26, 2024, in Woodlake, Texas. Born on December 1, 1970, in Houston, Texas, to Walter Ray Gayle and Freida Ann Westbrook, Steven was a man of humor, grit, and a voice that never held back. Known for his stubbornness and talent for spirited debate, he voiced his unwavering opinions with anyone willing to listen—or challenge him.
Above all, Steven loved his children, grandchildren, and his beloved dogs. His family was his pride, and he cherished every moment with them. Though his passing was sudden, Steven left this world doing what he loved.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: son, Aaron Gayle of Canada; daughter, Amanda Turner and her husband, Cody, of Lufkin, Texas; and his cherished grandchildren, Blysse and Bennett Turner of Lufkin, Texas. Steven is also survived by his sister, Tammy Berger of Kingwood, Texas; stepmother, Marsha Ralston; nephew, Jonathan Berger; niece, Angela Burleson; close cousins, Roger and Lori Stone; and special friends, John and Carina Wheaton, along with a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.
Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Freida Ann Westbrook; father, Walter Ray Gayle; and grandparents, Fred Warren "Doc" Westbrook and Frances Paulene Westbrook; girlfriend, Christine Bobbitt.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in Steven's honor at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Groveton Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Live Whole Foundation via PayPal or checks can be mailed to 1808 South Street, Nacogdoches, TX 75964.
