Steven Kie Barton was born on September 26, 1955, the son of William Kie Barton and Mildred (Wooten) Barton and passed away peacefully on June 8, 2018 in Lufkin, TX.

Steven graduated from Groveton High School in the class of 1974.  He later went to work for TX-Dot for thirty years until his retirement.  He was a loving father and an amazing grandfather.  He was commonly known as "Mr. Fix it" by his family members.  He especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren and enjoyed being able to teach them new skills or traits.  Steve also enjoyed being outdoors.  He loved to hunt and to fish.  He also had a special knack with his people skills and he rarely ever met a stranger.  Steve loved to be around people and always enjoyed catching up with his fellow classmates and friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, TX.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Groveton, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Barton and by his aunt and uncle, Marjorie and Adrian May.  His survivors include his son, John Kie Barton and wife, Randi Barton of Groveton, TX; granddaughter, Taylor Jane Barton of Groveton, TX; grandson, William "Kie" Barton, Jr. of Groveton, TX and grandson, John Kie Barton, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends also, survive.
