Obituary

Stephen A. Brooks, 98 years, of Keller; formerly of Groveton, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2017 in Bedford, Texas.  Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas with Pastors Neil Kemper, Rodney Langley officiating.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM until service time on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Groveton Funeral Home.

Mr. Brooks was born September 08, 1919 in Rock Creek, Texas the son of Caleb Sewell Brooks and Ivy Temple (Johnson) Brooks.  Mr. Brooks loved his family.  He was a graduate of Texas Tech University class of 1948 and majored in Industrial Engineering.  He later worked for Hughes Tool Company/ Baker-Hughes as an Engineer from 1948 until retirement in 1985.

Mr. Brooks is preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Madlyn Smith Brooks; daughter Ivy Stevelyn Brooks McBay; his parents and five siblings: Norma Brooks Cowell, Blanche Brooks Horton, Bernice Brooks Fraley, Rovinia Brooks Foster and Violet Brooks Overly.  Survivors include his loving daughter, Barbara Lois Brooks Brandenburg of Keller, Texas; brother, McElroy Brooks of Placerville, California; grandchildren:  Stephen McBay and spouse, Suse of Houston, Texas, Melissa Bakay and spouse, Chris of Houston, Texas, Amanda McBay of Houston, Texas, Laura Grosskopf and spouse, Scott of Southlake, Texas and Belinda Brandenburg of Irving, Texas; great grandchildren:  Chloe Williamson of Houston, Texas, Kayla Grosskopf of Southlake, Texas and Blake Grosskopf of Southlake, Texas; nephew, Dale Cowell of Greenville, South Carolina; as well his many beloved other relatives and friends.
