Sidney McAdams, Jr., age 86, of Groveton, Texas was born on June 23, 1928 in Groveton to the late Sidney McAdams and Esther (Wars) McAdams and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his home in the Magee Bend Community. Visitation for Sidney will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2014 beginning at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, the tenth day of September at 10:00 AM in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. H.J. Billingsley officiating. He will be escorted to his final resting place in Moore Cemetery by his pallbearers, Anthony Lowery, John Lowery, Brian Truss, Steven Truss, William Truss and Joe Hollingsworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Darvin Rogers, Mac Eastepp, Charles Lee, Marvin Hensley, Donald Hensley and Freddy Hensley.

Mr. McAdams married his loving wife of sixty plus years, Barbara Ellen Norsworthy, of the Possum-Walk community and they spent most of their lives together at their address on Beef Road. He worked as a Rancher, Farmer and Meat Processor/Butcher. He also worked in the Logging Industry. He attended church at the Possum-Walk Church of Christ. He enjoyed working with his cattle, farming and hunting deer on Piney Creek Hunting Club. He was a loving husband, a great dad and a wonderful neighbor and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Esther Ann McAdams; four sisters, Glayds Morgan, Ida Brooks, Ada Jennings (Ligon) and Audie Fae Blair. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Ellen McAdams; two sons, Lester McAdams and wife, Terrie McAdams and Delbert McAdams and wife, Margaret McAdams; five granddaughters, Marsha Truss and husband, Steven Truss, Nicole Truss and husband, Brian Truss, Amanda (Mandy) Beggs and husband, Joe Beggs, Stacey King and husband, Darrell King and Alissa Greer and husband, Kurt Greer; three step grandchildren, Blake Bass and wife, Rosa Bass, Carol Cotton and husband, Matthew Cotton and Amber Beckham and fiancé, Ryan Flarity; thirteen great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
