Funeral services for Shirley Adler Ray, 79, of Groveton will be held Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray was born November 2, 1935 in Groveton, Texas, the oldest daughter of the late Novel and Tee (Sullivan) Adler and passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 in Lufkin, Texas. Mrs. Ray resided in Groveton most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Groveton. Shirley was a devoted wife and mother who loved God and family above all else. The family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support shown to them during her illness.
Survivors include her husband of 61years, Billy Ray, of Groveton; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Joe Murray Wells, of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Teressa Ray, of Pennington; grandchildren, Tyson Wells and Natalie Wells Oates and husband, Justin, all of Lufkin, Colton Ray, Caitlin Ray, and Carson Ray, all of Pennington; great-grandchildren, Riley Oates, Brayden Thompson, Blakelie Oates and Kasen Wells, all of Lufkin; sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Henry Mistrot, of Austin; special niece, Aimee Mistrot Herst, of Cedar Park; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers are Tyson Wells, Colton Ray, Carson Ray, Justin Oates, Riley Oates, Brayden Thompson and Jonathan Herst.
Honorary Pallbearers are Junior Legg, Jimmy Elliott, Bruce Harrod, Melburn Minter, Jimmy Evans and Leroy Jordan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolence Fund at First Baptist Church, PO Box 306, Groveton, TX 75845
