Shirley Dale Kemper of Groveton, Texas was born on February 1,1941 in Cleveland, TX to the late Roy B. King and Lillie (Hill) King and went to her eternal home on June 6, 2021, at the age of 80 years in Groveton, TX.
Shirley loved her family. She especially enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sewing, playing solitaire, and doing cross word puzzles. She also loved being the wife of a Church of Christ preacher for over 40 years at Groveton Church of Christ. She enjoyed helping her husband share the word of God. She was continually active within the church, and she loved to sing and visit with others. She worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. Randall and Dr. Kistler in Lufkin, TX and rarely ever met a stranger. Shirley was always so kind and loved to help her peers. Shirley also loved to travel and ride motorcycles with her family.
Mrs. Kemper is survived by her loving Husband of almost 59 years, Otis Neil Kemper of Groveton, TX; Children: Daughter, Sandra Kemper Perez and husband, Rafael of Groveton, TX; Son, Jamie Kemper, and wife Melissa of Groveton, TX; Son, Thomas Jason Kemper of Woodlake, TX; Daughter, Dana Ayala and husband, Juan of Groveton, TX; Brother, Cecil King; Brother, Butch King and wife, Jimmie; Brother, Roy King, Jr. and wife, Joyce; Grandchildren: April Perez Bray and husband, Sean, Kelby Perez and wife, Bethany, Weston Cavness, Brandon Kemper, Alysse Cavness, D'nelia Casas, Fernanda Ayala, Kirsten Garbs, and David Ayala; Great Grandchildren: Giosue Velazquez, Armani Velazquez, Jaslene Velazquez, Katherine Bray, Emma Bray, Declan Bray, and Sienna Casas and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends also survive.
Mrs. Kemper is preceded in death by her Son, Otis Neal Kemper, Jr.; Mother, Lillie King; Father, Roy B. King; Brother, Ross King; Sister, Oneta Souza and Sister, Virginia Elliott.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, TX. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Goins officiating and Bro. Neil Kemper assisting. Burial will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, TX.
