Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Ruth Fortenberry Minter, 77 of Groveton, Texas will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Groveton Funeral Home Cartwright Memorial Chapel with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating. Interment will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in the Cherokee Community near Woodville.
Mrs. Minter was born on September 13, 1935 in Woodville, Texas and passed away on January 21, 2013 in Groveton, Texas. She was a bookkeeper for Groveton Mill and Supply and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groveton,Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents Vestal & Elsie Davis Fortenberry; Step-father Cader Fortenberry and brother and sister-in-law Joe & Bitsy Fortenberry.
She leaves to survive her husband Melburn Minter of Groveton; Children Bette Ann Chapman and husband David of Lake Worth; Kerry Minter and wife Renea of Crockett; Sisters: Juanice Smith & husband Emson of Vidalia, Ga., Pat Carter of Austin, Peggie Grammer of Groveton; Brothers: Max Fortenberry & wife Joyce of Port Neches and Johnny Fortenberry & wife Keitha of Silsbee; 4 Grandchildren and 5 Great- Grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Groveton Funeral Home.
