Funeral services for Sandra Kay Mericle Purvis, 64, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Brother Bill Bailey and Brother Horace Fletcher officiating.  Burial will follow in Bennett Cemetery of Apple Springs, Texas.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Groveton Funeral Home.

Sandra was born November 23, 1952 in Warwick, Virginia the daughter of the late Wilbur Gene Mericle and Eunice Skidmore Stephens and went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2017 peacefully in her sleep.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows and movies.  She loved her family and she especially loved her animals.  She is preceded in death by her father Wilbur Gene Mericle; sister Kim Mericle; maternal grandparents Hubert and Inez Skidmore and paternal grandparents Taylor and Bessie Mericle.

Survivors include her loving daughter Michelle McCauley of Lufkin; mother Eunice Skidmore Stephens of Lufkin; granddaughter Anna McCauley; step-brother Jimmy Stephens; step-sister Earline Hearne and step-sister Beverly Briggs as well her many beloved other relatives and friends.
