Samuel Ford was born December 21, 1926, in Jonesville, Louisiana. He peacefully returned to his heavenly home Friday, December 30, 2022.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin R and Nina Ford; his wife of 62 years, Lois O'Connor Ford; son, Edwin D Ford; and siblings, Mildred Stewart, Mary Alice Ford, Ruth Brown, twin sisters Margueritte Ford and Madge Johnson, Marjorie Rinaudo, and his twin brother Daniel Ford.
Sam is survived by his son David Ford and wife Sue, Groveton, TX, daughter Janet Schnell and husband Marty, League City TX and grandchildren Angela Jesse, Nolan Jones, Kelsi Jones, Chandler Ford, Evgeniy Ford, and Anastasya Hollis.
Sam served in the Navy during WWII. After the Navy he received his bachelor's degree in Chemistry from LSU in 1947. Sam graduated first in his class from University of Houston with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1964. After a 47-year career with Union Carbide in Texas City, TX, and South Charleston, WV, Sam made his home in Groveton, Texas where he lived his remaining days in the loving care of his son and daughter in law, David and Sue.
Ever in pursuit of the best hunting spot or fishing hole, Sam loved hunting and fishing the majority of his life.
Sam enjoyed spending time with his family, serving his church, growing beautiful flowers in his yard, and was an avid Bridge player.
Graveside services for Mr. Samuel Ford will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Bennett Cemetery with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating.
