Visitation for Rosa May Carriveau, age 85 of Groveton will begin Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton.

Rosa May Carriveau passed from this world to Jesus Christ's side in heaven September 23, 2023, at the age of 85.  Rosa was born June 19, 1938, in Thorndale, TX to John Alvie and Rose Elthe (Snow) Beard.
Rosa worked at a café in Thorndale and that's where she met her husband, Garnet Carriveau. They both moved to Houston, TX and started their own family.  She gave birth to six children: Marie, Victor, Gary, Albert, Michael, and Lulu.  They eventually moved to New Caney, TX. Rosa was a homemaker until her children were grown. She went to work at New Caney School in the cafeteria and then later as a custodian. She enjoyed being around children.
In 1987, she moved to Groveton, TX where she resided for the next thirty-six years. She loved tending to her garden and flower beds. She would read her bible every chance she had, and she loved and worshiped the Lord every day. For the past twelve years she was a resident in Groveton Nursing Home. Rosa was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend with a generous, caring soul.  She was a joyful person who loved life and if you didn't have a smile, she would lend you hers. Rosa had a laugh that was contagious.  She was always cheerful and brightened every room she entered. She loved spending time with family and friends and cherished her grandchildren dearly.  She always made those around her feel loved and valued. Rosa was truly an example of facing trials in life with dignity and grace.  She taught her family to love God and to seek Him in their daily lives.
She was a woman of great style and always wore her Sunday's best.  She enjoyed styling her hair and making sure her nails were kept. She also loved to cook. Rosa especially enjoyed baking because everyone loved her pies when they had a sweet tooth. She was a very special person and was the glue that held her family together. Her children's lives were enriched because of her. Her laughter and wisdom are irreplaceable.
This is not a goodbye, this is "I'll see you later." Until we meet again, we will love and cherish you.
Mrs. Carriveau is survived by her children: daughter, Marie Brown; son, Victor Carriveau and wife, Connie; son, Gary Carriveau; son, Albert Carriveau and wife, Carolyn; son, Michael Carriveau; daughter, Lulu Carriveau; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive.
Mrs. Carriveau is preceded in death by her loving parents, John and Rose Beard; husband, Garnet Carriveau; brothers: Johnny, Wesley, Roy, Chester, David, TA and Top Beard; sisters: Lona Rue Coe, Blanche Sheffield, and Mary Kruger; grandchildren: Rose Rogers and Joseph Carriveau; and sons-in-law, Ernest Brown and Dale Ray Kesinger; daughter-in-law, Jackie Carriveau.
