Rodger Durwin Floyd, of Groveton, Texas, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022, at the age of sixty-eight. Rodger was born on September 6, 1953, in Turlock, California to father, Charlie Lamar Floyd and mother, Mavis Francis (Lee) Floyd.
Rodger was a graduate of Centerville ISD the class of 1972. He loved to play sports and was known for how high he could jump during his basketball and volleyball games. He was a very athletic individual. After high school Rodger enjoyed working and spending time outdoors where he was a logger by trade and a skilled beekeeper in his down-time. He really enjoyed bee keeping and was very knowledgeable with this craft. Rodger loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He never met a stranger and was always helping others. Rodger was a devout Christian and loved to share the word of God with everyone. He was a long-time member of the Trevat Church of Christ where he enjoyed attending worship services.
Mr. Floyd leaves behind to cherish his memories, his son, Rodney Floyd and wife, Michelle of Groveton; brothers: Markus Floyd and spouse, Judy of Groveton; Anthony Floyd and wife, Sammie of Kennard; sister: Vanessa and husband, Ronald Lankford of Apple Springs; grandchildren: Kaylee Floyd and Robert Floyd; three great granddaughters: Krislan Griffith, Brooklyn Owens, and Jazlan Floyd and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family, and many friends also survive.
Mr. Floyd is preceded in death by an infant son; his older son, Russell Floyd; father, Charlie Floyd; mother, Mavis Francis (Lee)Floyd; and recently, his brother, Joseph "Joe" Floyd.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, August 14, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. in the Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, TX with Pastor Keith Jones officiating.
