Robert (Bob) Lee Evans, 87, of Nogalus Prairie, Texas, died Thursday, August 17, 201, at The Harbor Hospice of Beaumont, Texas.

He was born to Rosa Patrick Evans and Bud Evans on September 20, 1929.

Bob was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Nogalus Prairie.  He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master of the Cosmopolitan Lodge of Port Arthur, Kennard #1258 Masonic Lodge and Lothrop Lodge #21 in Crockett.  He had also served as the District Instructor Masonic District # 23 of The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas.  Bob also received the Golden Trowel, which is the highest honor a Masonic Lodge can bestow upon its member.

Bob served in the United States Navy. He retired from Gulf Oil Refinery in 1985.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy Evans and his wife, Cheryl, of Nederland; daughter, Cyndi Evans Hebert and husband, Glenn, of Groves; grandson Jim Evans and his wife, Beverly, of Canyon Lake; granddaughter, Holly Hebert of Port Neches; grandsons, Skylar Evans and Kevin Faulk and granddaughter, Sophia Evans, all of Nederland; three great-grandchildren, as well as several extended family members and friends.

Bob is preceded in death by both of his parents; his childhood sweetheart and wife of 66 years, Mary Lou Coleman Evans; his brother, Willis Evans' and his grandson, Bryan Hebert.

A gathering of friends and family will be held 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas.

His funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Monday, August 21, 2017, at Groveton Funeral Home with burial to follow at Zion Hill Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas.
