Obituary

Rita Frances Lilly Parker, age 75, of Groveton, Texas completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 13, 2024 in Crockett, Texas.  She was born on June 29, 1948 to her parents, Francis and Wanda (McMichael) Lilly in Breckenridge, Texas.  Rita served as the secretary at the Groveton Funeral Home for 30 years. She retired a few years ago due to her health.
Rita was a wonderful mother and mimi who was always there for them all.  She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She treasured her role as a Mimi – whether that meant introducing her grandbabies to their very 1st cup of coffee, cooking anything that they wanted, playing games, going to whatever activities they were involved in and only being a phone call away at any given time.
Rita's radiant smile and sweet loving soul left an indelible mark on everyone she met.  She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Groveton. She enjoyed getting together with her friends and playing canasta, dominoes, riding back roads, or just sitting outside for a visit.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Groveton.  She was a member of the Groveton OES #1035, serving as Worthy Matron from 1999 – 2000, 2000 – 2001, 2011 – 2012, and 2015 – 2016.  She was a past member of the Groveton Lions Club, and Secretary/Treasurer of Moore Cemetery.  She was a member of the Canasta Club and Domino Group in Groveton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis Lilly and Wanda Lilly, and her husbands, Bill Brockway and James (Stupot) Parker.
She is survived by daughter and son-in law, Jill Brockway Thompson and Ray Thompson of Tennessee Colony, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Brockway Baker of Groveton, Texas; son, Jason Parker and Shasta Bergman of Groveton, Texas; grandchildren, Chad Taylor and Macey Meredith of Palestine, Texas; Celsie Taylor and McCain Collett of Palestine, Texas; Emrie and Cuyler Parker of Groveton, Texas.  Rita was also blessed with extended families, the Chapman's, the Dial's, Carol Monk, Sarah and Robert Davis, Lamar Thornton, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Our mother, mimi, and friend will be dearly missed.  We are thankful for our time with her and have so many cherished memories. Her memory will forever by etched in our hearts.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel at the Groveton Funeral Home.
