In Loving Memory of Richard Mark Linden, Jr.

Richard Mark Linden, Jr. was born on January 29, 1943, in a military hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, to Richard Mark Linden and Carmen Mercado Linden. He passed away tragically on July 27, 2025, in Groveton, Texas, following a car accident. He was 82 years old.
A man of indomitable spirit, Richard lived life to the fullest—fearless, bold, and unapologetically authentic. His life was a tapestry of adventure, dedication, and love for his family, community, and country.
Richard proudly served as a dentist for over 50 years. His distinguished career led him from private practice to the remote terrains of Alaska, and later to providing care at the Gib Lewis Unit in Woodville, Texas. No matter what the setting, Richard's work reflected his unwavering commitment to excellence and service.
He was a man of extraordinary pursuits. A licensed pilot and jump master, Richard once parachuted into his own class reunion. He was an avid kayaker who became the oldest person to complete the grueling Texas Water Safari solo. He also raced Formula Ford cars, cycled long-distance, and relished every challenge he set his mind to. When Richard committed to something, he gave 200%, always pushing boundaries and inspiring others to do the same.
He held himself—and those around him—to the highest standards. His word was his bond, and his values were firm. Though fearless and fast-living, Richard also cherished the meticulous: he found joy in building detailed model airplanes and hand-carving decoy ducks, revealing a thoughtful, patient side to his personality.
Faith and service to community were central in Richard's life. He was a 32nd-degree Master Mason and past Master of his lodge, a dedicated member of the Dallas Scottish Rite, and served faithfully with the Hella Shriners for 22 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Carmen Linden.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty years, Jennifer Linden of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Christine Linden Matz of Austin, Texas; his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Linden Matz and Cooper Wayne Matz of Austin, Texas; his sisters, Kathy Linden and Ishea Linden Bedding; his brother, Pharris Linden; as well as a host of beloved nieces, and extended family and friends.
Richard Mark Linden, Jr., never met a challenge he couldn't conquer. His bold and adventurous spirit, his unwavering values, and his deep love for his family and faith will remain an enduring inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
