Paul Cleamon McFarland, 89, of Groveton Texas passed in his sleep on November 20, 2019 in Lufkin, Texas. He was born on March 26, 1930 in Carlisle, Texas to Jeff and Ethel (Clark) McFarland and was the oldest of six children.
He was married to Frances Lucy Kayser on November 26, 1950 and remarried after her passing to JoAnn DeVantier on December 27, 1999. They attended the First Baptist Church in Groveton, TX, when they were able. He graduated from Groveton High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Paul was a member of the Masonic Lodge Eastern Star Lodge No. 284 in Groveton, Texas for 49 years where he was Worshipful Master in 1975 and again in 2004.
He is survived by his second wife, JoAnn, his four sons: Phillip and wife Patricia, of Deer Park, TX; Ricky and wife, Wilma, of Lufkin, TX; Gary and wife, Renee, of Houston TX; and Christopher of Groveton, TX. Six grandchildren: Sherri Burrows and husband, Ryan; Jeff McFarland and wife, Kortney; Jamie McFarland; Amy McFarland and husband Scott Wilson; Travis McFarland; Amber Gall and wife, Gina; Chuck McFarland; and Sam McFarland. He also has eight great-grandchildren: Jacob, Alyssa, Emma, Peyton, Emily, Bradley, Daniel, and Lara. Paul is also survived by his siblings; sister: Nellie Sykes, brothers: Carrol (Buddy), David, and Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his wife Frances, his parents, Jeff and Ethel, and his brother, Charles Roland.
Viewing will be held at Groveton Funeral Home on Sunday November 24, 2019 beginning at 6pm to 8pm. Burial services will be held at Carlisle Cemetery on Monday November 25, 2019 at 10 am with Masonic services following.
