Pamela Sue Cook, of Lebanon, PA, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the age of 65, peacefully in her home, surrounded by her beloved family. Pamela was born on June 20, 1956, in Anchorage, Alaska to parents, Russell Abraham Cook Jr. and Betty Jane (Althouse) Cook.
Pamela became a resident of the Merakey Allegheny Valley School for 24 years. She lived in a group home in Lebanon, PA and in September 2021 she moved to Cleona, Pa. Pamela loved going to church where she enjoyed singing and listening to the words of the Lord. Her family in Pennsylvania has graciously shared their memories of Pam below:
Imagine a thick layer of leaves and a sudden gust of strong winds hurling through causing the leaves to lift and float. The same motion of energy from Christian/Classic Country/ Polka and showtune songs would cause Pamela to raise her head upward and smile. As if a cup running over, her joy would shine across her face and in her eyes. In a heartbeat her joy became joyous to others around her. In those moments I was inspired by her an amazing ability to teach to all that could see. Scriptures teach there is a time for all things. This is a time that has different meaning for different people: For me, it is a time of thanksgiving and praise to Our Heavenly Father for creating a song meant to be, Pamela Sue Cook. I am so grateful to have been a part of her journey from adventurous outings to seasonal celebrations; walks in the sun to last words spoken and heard "Jesus loves you and so do I". Marsha
"Love to sing to her, love her" {sang You Are My Sunshine and Jesus Loves Me every day}, Kyle, house mate and close friend.

Giggling "she make me laugh when she threw snowballs at you", Keith, house mate and friend.

"At Christmas when she got a stocking of fig newtons and she laughed and tried to empty the sock as fast as she could. Also, when we went Christmas Caroling, and times at church because she was so happy", Kristen, caregiver, and friend.

"She seemed to really enjoy when I was in the flower garden, and I cut and give her one. She'd smile and it just melted my heart", Sharon neighbor.

"She was such a dear, I will miss talking and waving to her." Joyce, neighbor.

"The pup "Baby" used to always catch her attention when she would go by on a walk and I'd tell her I'm babysitting," shared neighbor Jim "she seemed to like puppies."

"She just come so alive in church, and I would just keep looking over. She was so sweet. It was great having her with us," church member Billie.

"She made my morning when she arrives {church} and I could help wheel her in", Brian, usher.

"Years ago, in Program she would love to go on walks when her walking was better back then. I was looking at photos and I just love the times she would tabletop bowl, but she put her all into and insist on no help she push the ball by herself", Cindy, caregiver, and friend.

Pamela leaves behind to cherish her memories, her sisters: Dorothy Thompson, Kimberly Snyder and husband, John of Groveton, TX, nieces, and nephews: Brittany Harrington and husband, Billy, Stephanie Bjune and husband, Stephen, Jelisa Norsworthy and husband Jason, Dean Thompson and wife, DeAnn; her loving family from the Group Home, and numerous great nieces, nephews and other relatives, and many friends also survive.

Pamela is preceded in death by her loving parents, Russell, and Betty (Althouse) Cook; sister: Deborah Marie Cook; and brother-in-law: Dan Thompson.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 10:00 am at Flat Prairie Cemetery with Bro. Dee Queen officiating. Interment will follow in Flat Prairie Cemetery.
