Nona William Keen was born on December 6, 1927 in Madisonville, TX, the daughter of Albert Otis Johnson and Mary Bell Maddox Johnson and passed away peacefully on April 20, 2018 at her home.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, TX. Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Josserand Baptist Church with Bro. Calvin Kersh and Bro. Buford Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Carmona Cemetery in Carmona, TX.
Nona loved cooking, crocheting, embroidering, gardening and quilting. She was most proud of all the children whose lives were changed because of her teaching Sunday and Vacation Bible School. Those children are now in their forty's and still love and thank her for teaching them about Jesus. She was a long- time member of Josserand Baptist Church and was very active within the Red Hat Club and Day Lilly Club.
Mrs. Keen is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wesley Keen, Jr.; daughter, Henrietta Keen; parents, Albert Otis Johnson and Mary Bell Maddox Johnson; infant great grandson, Benjamin Joel Keen; siblings: Marshall Johnson, Ruby Nell Moren, Lenora Robinson, Morris Oneal Johnson, Virginia Lee Lum and Nelson Mitchell Johnson. Her survivors include her children: William Keen and wife, Laverne of Cleveland, TX, Henry Albert Keen of Center, TX, Barbara Ann Province of Groveton, TX and David Ray Keen and wife, Christina of Segno, TX; siblings: Otis Johnson, Jr. of Indian Springs, TX, O.J. Johnson and wife, Christine of Indian Springs, TX, Mary Lum of Cleveland, TX, Carrie Faye Woodard of Livingston, TX, Ocie Loving and husband, Butch of New Caney, TX, Liz Ferguson and husband, Pete of Cleveland, TX, and Leyte Lindsey and husband, Ray of Cleveland, TX and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends also, survive.
Pallbearers: Mitchell Keen, Henry Keen, Cody Keen, John Shaw, Wesley Wood, Larry Ferguson, Jonathon Bell and Roy Wood.
