Funeral services for Nancy Bertrand "Tootie" Evans, 76 of Friday will be held Saturday, January 20th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lewis Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas.
Nancy was born on August 3rd, 1941 in Houston, Texas to Charles and Nancy (Hanks) Bertrand. God called Mrs. Evans home on Saturday, January 13th, 2018 in Houston, Texas.
"Tootie" loved all of her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild. She also loved her "special child" her dog named Maggie. She loved Jesus and going to church and she especially enjoyed meeting people. She always enjoyed getting to know people and she was the best "story-teller," because she could always remember the intricate details in peoples' lives. "Tootie" also always enjoyed attending the early afternoon ladies' coffee club at County Seat. She never met a stranger.
Mrs. Evans was a long time member of the first Baptist church of Groveton and she was extremely active within the church as well as many other organizations throughout the community. She was a past member of Lions Club, Japonica Garden Club, Trinity County Historical Commission, reading club, the Thursday morning Sunday School Bible Study Class as well as being active within the Friday community. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Evans; her parents, Charles and Nancy Bertrand and a son, Keith Evans.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her loving children: son, Mike Evans and wife, Vickie Evans of Spring, Texas, son, James Evans and wife, Robin Evans of Deer Park, Texas and daughter, Kara Rose and husband, Brian Rose of Humble, Texas; grandchildren: Melissa Massie and husband Teil Massie of Houston, Texas, Hannah Zimmermann and husband, Kyle Zimmermann of Midland, Texas, Madeline Evans of Highlands, Texas, Evelyn, Daniel, Faith and Carolyn Rose, all of Humble, Texas; great granddaughter, Lillian Zimmermann of Midland, Texas and a host of other loved ones.
