Obituary

Michael Claire Jesse, 85, of Groveton, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2024, after a stroke. Born in McCune, Kansas, on December 28, 1938. Mike lived and worked in a few different states before settling down in the Groveton area. He was a very gifted and talented masonry and there are many examples of his artistry and work around the area scattered throughout Texas. Mike was incredibly involved in and around the community, always ready to give a helping hand, whether it was giving out water and food for hurricane victims or helping with cub scouts. Mike worked for the county in maintenance and was much liked and loved. He loved to sing and read to his children and grandchildren, which were some of his most cherished and happiest moments for him. Mike led a life full of love, family, and service to his community. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and the unwavering support he gave to those around him.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Claire Jesse, and Oma Kay (Groff) Jesse; his beloved wife, Betty Ann (Bradshaw) Jesse; and siblings, sister Roberta (Bloomer) Nutt/Angelo, brother Gary Groff, and brother Kyle Jesse.
Mr. Jesse is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Holly) Groff; his children, daughter Ruth Ann Jesse, son Michael Clayton Jesse, son Patrick Emmett Jesse, and Jennifer Lynn (Sigurdson) Jesse, step-children: Brian Groff and Sarah, Kevin Groff and Tracy, Todd Groff and Dianne; grandchildren, grandson David Andrew Turner and Jamie (Bergman) Turner, granddaughter Rachel Ann Turner and Kevin Moss, granddaughter Jennifer Lynn (Jesse) Salagaj and Joey Andrew Salagaj, grandson John Michael Jesse and Angela Sue (Ford) Jesse. Mike was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, including great granddaughter Kayley Ray Turner, great grandson Mason Andrew Turner, great granddaughter Hailee Elizabeth Helman, great granddaughter Chesney Gail Helman, great granddaughter Alexis Brianne Turner, great granddaughter Skyler Layne Turner, great granddaughter Julia Morgan (Turner) Rice and Grant Rice, great granddaughter Alexis Nicole Armstrong, great granddaughter Erica Cheyenne Armstrong and Ransom Ollie, great granddaughter Harley Claire Salagaj, great grandson Jeremy Michael Jesse, great granddaughter Jordan Leeann Jesse, great granddaughter Josie Isabella Jesse. He is also survived by his siblings, sister Evelyn Jean (Jesse) Wofford and Ray Wofford, sister Catherine Vicki (Formby) Yamashiro, and brother Joel Jesse, as well as many extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory. Mike's family was the center of his life, and his legacy lives on in the generations that followed him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. There will be a visitation on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4pm to 8pm at Groveton Funeral Home and a Memorial Service at 2pm Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Groveton Funeral Home.
