Memorial services for Michael Maurice Edwards, age 65 of Groveton, TX will begin Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in Baldwin Chapel Baptist Church in Groveton, TX with Rev. Curtis L. Owens, Jr. officiating.
Michael was born March 9, 1958, in Pinetops, North Carolina to parents, Willie Hayne Phipps and Shirley Jean Phipps and returned to his heavenly home Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Groveton, TX.
Michael attended and graduated from George Washington Carver high school in North Carolina.  He later moved with his family to Groveton, TX where he belonged as member of Baldwin Chapel Baptist Church.  Michael loved working with his hands.  He enjoyed helping others whether it was building or repairing fence or out helping his mother in the garden.  Gardening was his other special trait that he learned from his father who was renowned for his plentiful gardens.  He loved spending time with his family and his closest friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Hayne Phipps.
Michael is survived by his loving daughter, Brittany Phipps of Groveton, TX; mother, Shirley (Edwards) Phipps of Groveton, TX; aunt, Virnicetine Edwards; and a host of other relatives and friends.
