Melburn Eugene Minter, of Groveton, TX passed away peacefully to his eternal home in heaven on February 5, 2022, at the age of 87 years. He was born on October 17,1934 to Bevis Melburn Minter and Lottie C. (Jordan) Minter in Spurger, Texas.

Melburn was a selfless man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need He loved to work. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a heart the size of Texas and never met a stranger. Melburn was a longtime member and (past trustee0 of the First Baptist Church. Member of the Old Indian Club, Board of Directors with the bank. Past Mayor and City Councilman.

Melburn leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Polly Minter of Groveton; children: son: Kerry Minter and wife, Renea of Groveton; daughter: Bette Ann Chapman and husband, David of Lake Worth, TX.; grandchildren: Laura Hicks and husband, Jimmie of Mansfield, TX, Lene Handley and husband, Seth of Corrigan, Kurt Minter and wife, Leah of Groveton, Luke Chapman and wife, Faith of Benton Arkansas; great grandchildren; Skyler, Taylor, Trey, Nathan, Kutter, Avery, Emily, Morgan, Wesley, Vivian: brothers: Mike Minter and wife, Margie of Spurger, Jerry Minter and wife, Elaine of Chester; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Melburn is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Fortenberry Minter, parents: Bevis and Lottie Minter; stepmother: Jane Minter, sister: Elaine Minter; brother: Tommy Minter.

The family will welcome visitors beginning, Monday, February 7, 2022, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Groveton Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at 1:00 PM at the Groveton Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lewis Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Woodville, TX.

Pallbearers: Brint Dial, Vance Dial, Kevin Reynolds, Roderick Smith, Larry Fortenberry, Dean Due.
