Mary Frances
W Stedberry-Gillham
Mar 1, 1926 — Apr 12, 2026
Kennard
Mary Frances Sedberry Gillham, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at a local nursing facility in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born on March 1, 1926, in Fort Worth, Texas, to William Arthur Sedberry and Alberta Prather Sedberry.
Frances lived a full and active life defined by love, faith, and dedication to her family and community. A graduate of Northside High School, Class of 1942, she carried the values of hard work and service throughout her life. She was one of the original founding members of the Tri-Cities Baseball League, helping create opportunities for countless young athletes over the years.
Frances was always on the move—truly happiest when busy and involved. She loved working, quilting, and creating beautiful crafts. Her hand-stitched "baby quilts" became family treasures, each piece sewn with care and a story behind every thread. Most of all, she delighted in spending time with her cherished grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
A devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years, Frances' faith guided her and was reflected in her kindness, generosity, and dedication to others.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Gillham, Sr.; her son, Herman Gillham, Jr.; her parents, William Arthur and Alberta Prather Sedberry; and five siblings.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, David Gillham of Kennard, TX; daughter, Jeanie Ricks and husband, James of Chireno, TX; son, Jimmy Gillham and wife, Stacy of Huntington, TX; grandchildren: Michael Gillham and wife, Alice of Springtown, TX; Kristy Gillham of Azle, TX; Tyler Lucas and wife, Morgan of Decatur, TX; Kenna Lucas of Chireno, TX; and Paul Gillham and wife, Brittany of Huntington, TX; sixteen great-grandchildren; and special friends Anne Gary, Ima Burson, and Elaine Rooney. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives whose lives she touched deeply.
Graveside services for Frances Gillham will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery in Nogales Prairie, Texas, with Bro. James Whittlesey officiating.
