Obituary

Mary Nell Thompson Doyle, age 73, of Flat Prairie, Texas completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2014 in Conroe, Texas. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, January 31, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of the Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Dee Queen officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Prairie Cemetery in Flat Prairie. She will be escorted to her final resting place by her pallbearers, Tyler Jones, Asa Jones, Will Doyle, Kevin Thompson, Dean Thompson and Brandon Thompson. Honorary Pallbearer is Greg Read.

Mrs. Mary was born on January 27, 1941 to her parents, Eldridge Thompson and Jeannette (Smith) Thompson Cook in Trinity County. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was a Master Gardener and was an active member of Japonica Garden Club. She belonged to numerous organizations, including Friday Community Center, Groveton Sr. Citizens Center, Friday Buyers Club and Groveton Ex Students Association. Mary also was very involved with the Relay for Life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Freda Thompson. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years and one month, William H. (Bill) Doyle, of Flat Prairie, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Jones and Dan Jones, of College Station, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, David Doyle and Pam Doyle, of Flat Prairie, Texas; son and daughter-in-law; Glenn Doyle and Jennifer Doyle, of Fairfield, Texas; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, John Thompson and Joy Thompson, of Flat Prairie, Texas; Marvin Thompson and Peggy Thompson, of Friday, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Dan Thompson and Dorothy Thompson, of Flat Prairie, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive.
