Funeral Services for Marjorie Merriwether Womack, 101, of Groveton, Texas will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 18, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Jim Tom Ainsworth officiating and Rev. Jack McMahon assisting. Interment will follow the services in Glenwood Cemetery. She will be escorted to her grave by her pallbearers, Dick Ramsey, Joe Ainsworth, Bill Ainsworth, Johnny Merriwether, Paul Bozeman, and Charles Lee. Visitation for Mrs. Womack will begin at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Groveton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Womack was born May 3, 1913 in Kennard, Texas to James Creath Merriwether and Georgia (Brown) Merriwether and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 15, 2014 at her home in Groveton. She was married to William Oly Womack for 41 years until his death in 1975. They had two sons, Philip Layne Womack and William Dan Womack.

She graduated from Alto High School and Sam Houston State University with a BS and US degree. She taught first grade in Groveton, Texas for thirty one years until her retirement. In 2010, she was inducted into the Groveton Ex-Students Association Hall of Fame for her dedication in education. Marjorie was a member of the United Methodist Church for seventy nine years. She enjoyed her family, her friends, cooking and working in her yard. She loved being around people.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, James Merriwether and Georgia Merriwether; husband, William Oly Womack; her son, Philip Layne Womack in December of 2004; daughter-in-law, Betty Lou Hendrix Womack; two brothers; and three sisters.

Her survivors include her son, William Dan Womack and wife, Jean; grandchildren, Layne Womack, Lisa Sevier and husband, Roger, Patricia Hruzek and husband Chris, and David Womack; great grandchildren, Alayna Magnuson and husband, Scott, Gillian and Jack Sevier, Kaylan Womack and Parker Hruzek; great granddaughter, Brinley Magnuson; nieces, Georgana Bozeman, Ann Connell, Jan Osborn, and Sue Hughes; nephews, Jim Tom Ainsworth, Bill and Joe Ainsworth, Johnny Merriwether, Dick Ramsey, Scott Merriwether; special friend, Charles Lee; and a host of other loved ones and friends.
