Marie Luce Prothro was born on July 9, 1933, and passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, at the age of ninety-two.
Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of seventy-three years, Seldon Prothro; her parents, Archie, and Pearline Luce; her brother, R. L. Luce; and her sisters, Dorothy Warren, Betty Jones, and Virginia Odom.
She is survived by her loving son, Michael Prothro and wife, Sondra; her grandchildren, Mika McMullen and husband, Brad, and Myles Prothro; and her great-grandchildren, Connor Kaufman, Bradyn Kaufman, Daniel Johnson, and Beau McMullen. She is also survived by her siblings, David Luce and wife, Polly, Danny Luce, Elaine Rooney, and Darlene Whittlesey and husband, James, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Marie dedicated much of her working life to Brown & Root, where she served faithfully for more than thirty years before retiring. Following her retirement, she continued her service to the community as Assistant Postmaster of the Centralia Post Office, a role she conducted with pride and commitment.
She found immense joy in sewing and quilting and was especially known for her love of gardening and flowers. Marie truly had a green thumb and took immense pride in nurturing beauty wherever she lived. She was affiliated with Prairie View Methodist Church and valued her faith and church community deeply.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, December 20, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church in Nogalus Prairie with graveside services for Marie Luce Prothro being held at 11:30 a.m. at Johnson Tullos Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas with Brother James Whittlesey officiating.

Marie will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her creative spirit, her love of family, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life. Her legacy of love and service will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
