Louella Thompson Read, age 102, of the Thompson Community of Trinity County, Texas completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 27, 2014 surrounded by her family at her home in the Thompson Community. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of the Groveton Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday morning. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, Friday, January 31, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery in the Thompson Community. She will be escorted to her final resting place by her pallbearers, Greg Coco, Mike Spears, Eric Bruns, Thomas Jeffrey, Tristan Jeffrey and Marvin Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers are Roy Cannon, Bunk Harrelson, Preston "Buddy" Ward, Raymond Monroe, Mac Eastepp and Hank Adams.

Louella was born on July 14, 1911 to her parents, Joseph Wilse Thompson and Mary Della Thompson in the Thompson Community. She was a life-long resident of Trinity County. She was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in the Thompson Community and she served many capacities of the Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Woodie Read; her parents; two brothers, Woodrow Thompson and Howard Thompson; one sister, Alberta Thompson Jennings. She leaves behind her sister, Bessie Thompson Tullos, of Katy, Texas; children, Della Jeffrey Lyons, of Lovelady, Texas, Charlie H. Read and wife, Carol Read, of Houston, Texas and Lynn R. Read and wife, Faye Read, of Willis, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Read, of Leeds, England, Kelly Read Spears and husband, Mike Spears, of Houston, Texas, Sherry Read Coco and husband, Greg Coco, of Richmond, Texas, Tracy Jeffrey Bruns and husband, Eric Bruns, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Thomas Read Jeffrey, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, Stacia Lea Jeffrey, of Dallas, Texas, Shana Jeffrey Spears and husband, Jon Spears, of Denver, Colorado; ten great grandchildren, Matil Spears, Kendall Coco, Gregory Coco, Erin Coco, Isabella Jeffrey, Tristan Jeffrey, Adam Spears, Zachary Spears, Virgillia Bruns and Geoffrey Bruns. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive.
