Obituary

Linda Kay Howard Blackstock, 77, of Groveton, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 29, 2026. She was born on January 20, 1949, in Northshore, Texas.
Linda devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she loved deeply. She especially enjoyed going to the beauty shop, having her hair and nails done, and attending her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting events and livestock shows.
Linda shared a beautiful life with her husband of fifty years, Clarence "Blackie" Lee Blackstock. The two were married on March 9, 1976, Wallisville, Texas. They loved being together, whether out on the dance floor "cutting a rug" or sitting on the porch enjoying the sunrise or sunset. Linda adored Blackie and took special joy in doting on him.

She was a longtime administrator of the Mother's Day Out program at her former church, Dell Dale Baptist Church in Channelview. She was also deeply involved in her children's 4-H and livestock activities, faithfully helping and supporting them through the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Christine Howard; her son, Michael Maynard; her brother, Roddy Howard; and her sister, Betty Gerson.
Linda is survived by her husband, Clarence "Blackie" Lee Blackstock; her son, Barton "Buddy" Blackstock and wife, Belinda Blackstock; her grandchildren, Coty Blackstock and wife, Jennifer Blackstock, Brittany Bates and husband, Kraig Bates, Makayla Kesinger and husband, Joseph Kesinger, and Brady Blackstock and wife, Meagan Blackstock; her great-grandchildren, Zaelynn, Branson, Emery, Cason, Sophie, Joey, Conley, Kaylee, Darby, and Walker; her sister, Wanda Howard; her brothers, Darryl Howard and wife, Kim Howard, and Joshua Howard and wife, Misty Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Groveton Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Pennington Cemetery in Pennington, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Coty Blackstock, Joseph Kesinger, Brady Blackstock, Keith Dreher, Kraig Bates, and Jarrod Dreher.
Linda will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the joy she found in her family, and the warmth she brought to those who knew her.
