Obituary

Lillie Butler Freeman, 98 years, of Sherman; formerly of Groveton passed away peacefully at her home on December 19, 2017 in Sherman, Texas.  Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church of Pennington in Pennington, Texas with Bro. Bud Magee officiating and Bro. Charles Butler assisting.  Burial will follow in Pennington Cemetery in Pennington.  Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas.

Lillie was born January 7, 1919 in Helmic, Texas the daughter of Edgar and Laura (Bain) Butler.  Lillie later married the love of her life Weaver Leon Freeman on March 9, 1941 in Trinity County.  They remained in Trinity County for the remainder of their lives and raised their five children.  Lillie loved to spend time with her family and loved anything to do with helping with her church.  She was extremely active within the church.  She was a past member of Friday Baptist Church and eventually joined Pennington Baptist Church where she currently held her membership.  Lillie stayed busy raising her family and enjoyed cooking, gardening and going fishing. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.

Mrs. Freeman is preceded in death by her husband Weaver Leon Freeman in March of 1992; her parents, Edgar and Laura Butler and her siblings: Irene Vaughn, Elver R. Butler, Pearl Maddoux, Edgar B. Butler, Eustace Butler and Agnes Graham.

She is survived by her children:  daughter, Laura Morgan and husband L.D. Morgan of Sherman, Texas, daughter, Fran Whittenton of Longview, Texas, son, John E. Freeman of Longview, Texas, son, Weaver L. "Bo" Freeman, Jr. and wife Judy Freeman of Groveton, Texas, son, Willie H. Freeman and wife Donna Freeman of Longview, Texas; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harvey Graham of Lufkin, Texas; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers:  Mike Freeman, Cody Beard, Kevin Stockinger, Ryan Stockinger, Matthew James, Neil White and Curtis Stockinger
