Lillian S. Evans, 99 years, of Groveton, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2017 in Groveton.  Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas with Rev. Jack McMahon officiating.  Burial will follow in Sumpter Cemetery in Woodlake, Texas.  Visitation will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 beginning at 6 PM until 8 PM at Groveton Funeral Home.

Lillian was born February 04, 1918 in Williamson County, Texas the daughter of Otto Schlickeisen and Sallie (Dentler) Schlickeisen.  Mrs. Evans loved her family.  She especially enjoyed family reunions and keeping up with everyone.  She worked as a secretary for most of her adult life in the legal and education fields until retirement.  She was a member of First Methodist Church in Groveton.  In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, embroidery, knitting, needle point and crocheting.  She also loved to read and playing games such as 42, Gin Rummy, Canasta and completing jig saw puzzles.  Later she loved learning about the stock market and was always fascinated with how it worked.

Mrs. Evans is preceded in death by her husband, Rush Fitzpatrick Evans; her parents; six brothers and three sisters.  Survivors include her loving children:   son, Rush F. Evans, Jr. and wife Mary Lee Evans of Houston, Texas, daughter, Lillian Patricia Reynolds and husband John Wayne Reynolds of Groveton, Texas and son, Joe Scott Evans and wife Margaret L. Evans of Groveton, Texas; grandchildren:  Rush F. Evans, III, John J. Vossler, III, Lillian Christina Driskell, Janet Lee Cassels, John Wayne Reynolds, Jr., Seth A. Evans and Matthew C. Evans; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; as well her many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
