Leon Edman Eaves, Sr., 88, of Apple Springs, Texas, passed away on July 17, 2017 in Lufkin, Texas.  Leon was born on October 5, 1928 in Apple Springs, Texas.  He was an avid gardener as well as a tree farmer.  He took such pride in his tree farm until the hurricane took his crop.  He loved to build and was always working on improvements to his homestead if he was able.  He loved to spend time with his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday July 20, 2017 at Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas with Brother Lester McAdams officiating.  Burial will follow at Bennett Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Groveton Funeral Home.

Leon is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Eaves of Apple Springs, Texas; children:  daughter Bobbie Eaves Cleaver and husband Raymond of Flat Prairie, Texas; son Leon, Jr. (Eddie) of Apple Springs, Texas; son Joe Lynn Eaves of Hudson, Texas; daughter Doris Ann Eaves of Apple Springs, Texas; seven grandchildren:  Rodney Paul Cleaver, Jeana Leann Cleaver, Amanda Denise McAdams Beggs, Stacey Dianne McAdams King, Alyssa Darlyne McAdams Anthony, Michael DeWayne Eaves, Anthony Scott Eaves, Jodie Jeffrey Finke and Madison Jeffrey; sixteen great grandchildren:  Katie Cleaver, Tori Smith, Kayla Houston, McKenzie McAdams, Nolan Beggs, Cole Beggs, Andrew Beggs, Benjamin Beggs, Lucas Beggs, Jake King, Dani King, Katlin King, Kristin Anthony, Carter Anthony, McKenzie Anthony and Edne Anthony as well his many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Eaves is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Henry and Cara Eaves; brother, Hagar Isaac Eaves and sister, Bessie Eaves Doyle.
