Laura Thomas-Edebe passed away on January 22, 2023, in Arlington, Texas. She was born July 15th, 1961, to Tommie and Elsie Thomas. She was the 10th child born of 11. She was raised in the Lacy community of Groveton. Laura attended Groveton ISD and graduated in the year of 1980. She attended Angelina College. In 1984 her first born child Rena was to her and Preston McKenzie. She later moved to Arlington, Texas where she married Joseph Edebe. To this union one son, Kelvin was born. In the year of 2001, she returned to Lacy to care for her father. Laura loved to take care of the elderly. She never met a stranger. Her favorite words were, "I CAN'T COMPLAIN." No matter how she felt she always said those words.

Laura is survived by her loving children: daughter, Rena Thomas of Arlington, Texas; son, Kelvin Thomas-Edebe and wife, Hannah of Desoto, Texas; seven grandchildren: Breanna, Kamren, Dariyon, Cameyelle, Ravyn, Samuel, and Xayla Jones; 1 great grandchild, Aaliyah Jade Session-Black; seven siblings: sisters: Shirley T. Williams, Maxie Banks, Autrey Smith, Ethelrene Smith and husband, Danny, Barbara Gary and husband, Danny; brothers: Jerry Thomas and wife, Adarine, Archie Thomas and wife, Janice; special niece, Ella Derry; special nephews, Claytress Lewis and Keon Banks, and a host more of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, also survive.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Tommie and Elsie Thomas; sister, Ruth Nicholson; sister, Nola Kirk; brother, Freddie Kirk; grandmother, Ethel Carr and grandfather, Holbert Carr.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at the Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Lacy community of Groveton at 1:00 pm.
