Visitation for Laura Evelyn Brooks, age 74 of Groveton, TX formerly of Corrigan, will begin Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Corrigan in Corrigan, TX. Funeral services will begin Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Corrigan with Bro. Buster Griggs officiating. Interment will follow in Union Springs Cemetery.
Laura was born February 18, 1949, in Camden, TX to parents, Mitt and Mandy Brooks and returned to her heavenly home Monday, August 28, 2023, in Groveton, TX.
Laura was the oldest of two children. She and her brother, William Brooks, Jr. were raised in Camden just outside of Corrigan, TX.  She graduated from high school and then went on to attend and graduate from business school. She worked for many years as a reception clerk for Georgia Pacific.  Laura enjoyed spending time with her family, and she especially enjoyed watching her nephews and niece as they grew up.  She became a great aunt and carried on spoiling her great nephews and great nieces.  Aunt Laura was her great-nephews and great-niece's biggest fan. She loved attending sporting events and other school events.
She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Brooks; parents, Mitt and Mandy Brooks; grandparents: George and Sally Brooks, and Charlie and Viola Allsbrooks; a host of other aunts and special uncles, Dan Brooks and Martin Allsbrooks; great-niece, Erin Brooks.
Laura is survived by her brother, William (Junior) Brooks and wife, Sarah; nephew, Daniel Brooks and wife, Marissa; nephew, Willie Brooks and wife, Dionne; niece, Carla Murphy and husband, Kenneth; great nephews and great nieces: Chase Brooks and wife, Rebecca, Trevor Brooks, Cody Fairchild, Ty Charles Brooks and wife, Kortney, Jordan Brooks, Rebecca Brooks, Trey Brooks, Sarah Beth Murphy, Lane Hajovsky, Ashton Ashford, Wyatt Hajovsky, Colter Hajovsky; and special adopted niece, Jo Beth Miller; and a host of other relatives and friends.
