Agnes La'Nell Winzer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, in Livingston, Texas, following a lengthy battle with illness. She was born on March 26, 1953, in Houston, Texas, to Agnes Laverne Freeman and Jessie Paul "Farris" Freeman.
La'Nell was a vivacious woman who embraced life fully and filled it with love, laughter, and creativity. She met the love of her life, Larry Glenn Winzer, and they were married on November 22, 1974, at Winnie Baptist Church. Together, they shared more than fifty-one years of marriage, building a life centered on devotion, family, and countless cherished memories.
A proud member of the East Chambers High School Class of 1971, La'Nell continued her education at Lamar University before transferring to Lee College, where she earned her associate degree. She worked for many years as a medical clerk until her retirement.
La'Nell loved to sing and found great joy in creating beautiful things. She could often be found working on a cross-stitch pattern, completing a diamond painting, or enjoying another craft project. She also delighted in cooking meals for her family, taking camping trips, spending time with those she loved, and taking a good nap. Her grandchildren and great-grandchild held an especially precious place in her heart.
La'Nell and Larry spent most of their married life in Winnie, Texas, before moving to Groveton. She was a member of the Groveton Church of Christ and remained a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Winnie, where she served as a Past Worthy Matron. She also volunteered regularly with the Winnie Fire Department and joined the Republican Women of Texas after moving to Groveton.
La'Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Jessie Freeman, and her sisters, Wanda Henry and Bona Stanley.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Larry Winzer of Groveton, Texas; her children, Larry Glenn Winzer Jr. and wife Danyell of Rye, Texas, Tanya Lynn LeVeck and husband Michael of Winnie, Texas, and Loyd Gene Winzer and wife Rachel of Winnie, Texas; her grandchildren, Morgan LeVeck, Hayden LeVeck, Iris McHenry, Jaicee Winzer, Dylan Winzer, and Madison Winzer; her great-grandchild, Theo McHenry; aunt, LeBland McAdams of Stowell, Texas; and special friends, Ann and Rusty Waldrum of Groveton, Texas. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
La'Nell's life was a beautiful reflection of the love she gave so freely. Her joyful spirit, creativity, devotion to family, and zest for life will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family will carry her memory forward in every song sung, every meal shared, every handmade treasure, and every gathering filled with love and laughter.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Groveton Funeral Home, with Pastor Tony Goins officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Larry Glenn Winzer Jr., Loyd Gene Winzer, Dylan Winzer, Hayden LeVeck, Rusty Waldrum, and Christopher Arnold. Michael LeVeck will serve as honorary pallbearer.
