Kirby Hood Brown passed from this world into the next on January 19, 2014 at the age of 59. He was born on July 29, 1954 in Lufkin, Texas to Roy Houston Brown, Jr. and Sara Margaret Lowry Brown. Kirby will be remembered as a gruff man who kept mostly to himself, and was never without a book nearby. Kirby was always ready to laugh at a well-executed, off-color joke, and was always ready with one of his own.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Houston Brown, Jr., and his elder brother, Roy Houston Brown, III. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Theresia Brown; his mother, Sara Margaret Lowry Brown; his daughter, Elizabeth Brown; step-son, James Michael Nation, Jr.; two nieces, Courtney Rector and husband Rich, and Amy Drummond and husband Greg; a nephew, Clyde Houston Brown; his sister-in-law, Katherine Reynolds Brown; along with three great-nieces and a great nephew.

No visitation or memorial services will be held at this time, but prayers and well-wishes to the family are much appreciated.
