Junior Villanueva,
Jr.
May 14, 1976 — Mar 18, 2026
Groveton
Edgar "Junior" Luis Villanueva, Jr., 49, of Groveton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 14, 1976, in Vieland, New Jersey, Junior lived a life filled with laughter, devotion, and deep love for those who meant the most to him.
After graduating high school, Junior proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving his country with honor and dedication. His sense of duty, loyalty, and kindness carried through every part of his life.
Later in life, Junior met the love of his life, Marla Watson. The two shared an unbreakable bond and were united in marriage on February 14, 2008, in Lufkin — a Valentine's Day that perfectly reflected their enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with joy, family, and faith.
Junior adored spending time with his family, especially playing games with his two sons. He was an enthusiastic sports fan who could often be found cheering for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and New York Yankees. He enjoyed playing bingo, sharing meals of his favorite Chinese dishes, and creating memories filled with laughter and warmth.
A man of faith, Junior was a firm believer in the Catholic tradition, carrying his faith quietly but steadfastly throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his three grandmothers, whose memory he cherished deeply.
Junior is survived by his loving wife, Marla Villanueva; his sons, Logan Villanueva and wife Erinn Villanueva, and Anthony Villanueva; his adored grandson, Roland; his bonus parents, Doug and Melanie Watson; siblings Douglas, Trace, Mary, Maile, Carlos, and Omar; and his special friend, Daniel Heysham. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and one great-nephew, each of whom he loved dearly.
Junior will be remembered for his generous spirit, infectious laughter, and the way he made every person feel like family. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
"Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on."
