Obituary

Joylea McClain, 86, of Groveton was born February 26, 1928 and passed away on July 3, 2014 at the Pinecrest Retirement Center in Lufkin, Texas.

Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, Monday, July 7, 2014 with funeral services being held at 11:00 AM at the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Neil Kemper officiating. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery in Groveton, Texas. Ms. McClain will be escorted to her final resting place by her pallbearers, Marty McClain, Michael McClain, Jason Larsen, Alton Mericle, Dean Due, Anthony Page and Joe Ned Dean. Honorary pallbearers are Don Reily, Glen Ward, W.B. Due, Lewis Pillows, Bennie Lee and Max Due. A heartfelt and grateful thank you to the staff at Pinecrest George R. Henderson Building for the love and care they have given since 2008.

Ms. McClain was a faithful member of the Groveton Church of Christ, Highway 94. Ms. McClain graduated from Centerville High School in 1945; she then attended Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville, Texas. Ms. McClain worked for A.J. Hutson, attorney in Groveton, The Groveton News and in 1983 was office manager of the family business McClain's Hardware that opened in 1980 and retired in 1994.

Ms. McClain is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin McClain, 2004, married for 55 years and her parents, Joe and Lena Ponder, all of Groveton. She is survived by daughter, Brenda McClain; son, Benny McClain and wife, Linda McClain, of Groveton, grandchildren, Marty McClain, of Groveton, Michael McClain, of Groveton and Marla Larsen and husband, Jason Larsen, of Groveton; great grandchildren, Hannah McClain, Lexi Larsen and Legend Larsen.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Groveton Church of Christ, Highway 94.
