Joseph Edward Odom was born in Saron, Texas on January 10, 1930 to James Athene and Minnie Partheni Odom. He passed away on June 19, 2019 in Shepherd, Texas at the age of 89 years. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge of Shepherd.
Mr. Odom is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Odom; sister, Nelly Odom; brother, Jim Odom; sister, Willie King; sister, Mattie Smith; sister, Lucielle Bezdek and sister, Lilley Mae Scott. His survivors include his daughter, Joann Schelski and son-in-law, Robert Schelski of Houston, TX; sister, Oma Dee Bush of McAllen, TX; grandsons, Anthony Schelski and spouse, Claudia Mendoza of Dallas, TX; Joseph Schelski and spouse, Kimberly Schelski of Shepherd, TX; Michael Schelski and spouse, Sarah Crawford of Conroe, TX; ten great grandchildren and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Lester McAdams officiating services that begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Thornton Cemetery in Trinity, TX.
