Joseph Edward Lester, 50, was born on September 15, 1974, in Houston, Texas, to Richard Earl Lester and Jonelle Shaw. He passed away tragically following an automobile accident on November 9, 2024, in Groveton, Texas.
Joseph spent his early years in Groveton, where he attended Oaklawn Baptist Church with his family. Later, the family moved to the Alief community of Houston, where Joseph attended Hastings High School. Following high school, he pursued a career as a butcher, a craft he perfected with skills learned in his family's meat shop and hamburger place. Known for his talent and precision, Joseph took pride in his work and the legacy it represented. He also loved to cook and brought joy to many with his culinary skills.
A lover of life, Joseph embraced Houston's vibrant culture and found joy in the city's diversity. His family was his greatest joy, especially his newest grandbaby, whom he adored. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed rapping and creating music, drawing inspiration from Houston legends like DJ Screw and Lil Keke, and he shared a close friendship with Big Pokie. Joseph also loved the outdoors and had a deep connection to nature. Known for his passion for big trucks, his latest love was his Cadillac.
Joseph is preceded in death by his father, Richard Lester, and his stepmother, Joann Lester. He is survived by his cherished children, daughter Briana Elisabethe Lester and son Dominic Edward Lester, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Alazne Elani Johnson. A host of cousins and other relatives also survive him.
A celebration of Joseph's life will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas. The family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Apple Springs, Texas.
Joseph will be remembered for his joyful spirit, his love for family, his musical talents, and his skillful craftsmanship. He will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
