John Nolan Williamson was born on January 27, 1931, in Weldon, Texas, to Jasper P. Williamson and Bulah Sharp Williamson. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his residence in the Nogalus Prairie Community on March 14, 2025.
John had a deep love for the outdoors, spending much of his time hunting, farming, and gardening. He cherished traveling with his beloved wife and took exceptional care of her throughout their life together. Among his greatest joys were family gatherings at their farm, where he created many cherished memories with his loved ones.
In December of 1950, John married the love of his life, Cootsie McMullen, at the church they attended in Houston, Texas. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to love and devotion, lasting an incredible seventy-four years and three months. John was a long-time member of the Assembly of God Church in Kennard, Texas, and a resolute member of the NRA.
John was preceded in death by his father, Jasper Williamson; his mother, Bulah Williamson; eight siblings; his granddaughter, Johnna Aliss Williamson; his son-in-law, Bill Bennett; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Athena and Ruby McMullen.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cootsie Williamson; his son, John Allen Williamson and wife, Connie, of Crockett, Texas; his daughter, Sandra Bennett of Nogalus Prairie, Texas; his daughter, LaWanda Williamson of Nogalus Prairie, Texas; and his daughter, Diane Clonts and husband, Timothy, of Huntington, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jason Williamson and wife, Amanda, Kimberly Cobb, Donny Shane Davis and wife, Megan, Jarred Clonts and wife, Sasha, John Wesley Davis and wife, Amber, and Caleb Clonts and wife, Sonia. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church of Nogalus Prairie. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, with interment following in Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jason Williamson, Donny Shane Davis, John Wesley Davis, Jarred Clonts, Caleb Clonts, and Donny Davis.
John Nolan Williamson will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
